No. 689 74R6136 PAN-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Dr. Arline Patterson has been named the recipient of 1-2 the 1994 State Association Leadership Award by the National 1-3 Community Education Association (NCEA), and this special 1-4 recognition is indeed well deserved; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This prestigious honor is presented each year to an 1-6 association member who has significantly impacted the development 1-7 of community education at the state and national level, and Dr. 1-8 Patterson's outstanding involvement in behalf of this worthy goal 1-9 not only meets this criteria but sets a high standard to which 1-10 others can aspire; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Dr. Patterson holds certificates in elementary 1-12 education, adult education, administration and supervision, and 1-13 midmanagement in five states, and most recently completed her 1-14 doctoral degree in education at Texas A&M University in 1993; and 1-15 WHEREAS, She joined the North East School District Community 1-16 Education program at Northwood and Windcrest elementary schools in 1-17 1980 and, since 1986, has distinguished herself as director of the 1-18 district's Community Education Department; and 1-19 WHEREAS, This talented educator has greatly contributed to 1-20 the development of community education in Texas; she played a key 1-21 role in increasing state officials' awareness of the community 1-22 education concept, has served as a past president and former 1-23 liaison to the National Council for State Community Education 1-24 Associations, and was a dynamic force behind the success of the 2-1 1990 NCEA national conference held in San Antonio; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Dr. Patterson has touched the lives of countless 2-3 individuals throughout her exemplary career in the field of 2-4 community education and, on the occasion of her most recent 2-5 achievement, it is an opportune time to honor her for her valuable 2-6 service; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-8 Legislature hereby congratulate Dr. Arline Patterson on her receipt 2-9 of the 1994 State Association Leadership Award from the National 2-10 Community Education Association and extend to her warmest best 2-11 wishes for continued success and fulfillment in her chosen field in 2-12 the years to come; and, be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-14 prepared for Dr. Patterson as an expression of high regard by the 2-15 Texas House of Representatives.
