R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, George H. Ensley has served with integrity and
1-2 distinction as president of the Rotary Club of San Antonio, and his
1-3 leadership of that fine organization has greatly benefitted the
1-4 people of San Antonio; and
1-5 WHEREAS, Founded in 1912, the Rotary Club of San Antonio is
1-6 composed of more than 500 local business leaders who work together
1-7 to promote community service, provide youth scholarships, and
1-8 foster high ethical standards in both business and professional
1-9 fields; and
1-10 WHEREAS, An 18-year member of the Rotary Club, Mr. Ensley has
1-11 merited inclusion in Rotary's international honorary organization
1-12 of Paul Harris Fellows, and his selection as president is a clear
1-13 indication of the esteem and respect with which he is regarded by
1-14 his colleagues; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Mr. Ensley holds a bachelor's degree in accounting
1-16 from the University of California at Berkeley and a master of
1-17 business administration degree from Stanford University; after
1-18 honorably serving his country in the United States Army for 19
1-19 years, he embarked on a distinguished career with USAA and had
1-20 risen to the position of chief of staff before he retired; and
1-21 WHEREAS, In addition to his work with the Rotary Club, this
1-22 dedicated civic leader has contributed to his community through his
1-23 active involvement with the McNay Art Museum, the San Antonio
1-24 Public Library System, Las Casas Foundation, and the San Antonio
2-1 Zoological Society; he also has demonstrated concern for the
2-2 physical health and well-being of his fellow Texans through his
2-3 support of the San Antonio Medical Foundation and the Cancer
2-4 Therapy and Research Center; and
2-5 WHEREAS, Throughout his career and many community service
2-6 endeavors, he has been aided by his wife of more than 45 years,
2-7 Lucille Lichens Ensley; their marriage has been blessed with three
2-8 sons, Craig, Ross, and Ralph, and in recent years their close-knit
2-9 family has grown to include 12 grandchildren; and
2-10 WHEREAS, George H. Ensley has set an outstanding example of
2-11 civic leadership for others to follow, and his efforts have earned
2-12 him the respect and admiration of his friends and neighbors and the
2-13 gratitude of his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it
2-14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
2-15 Legislature hereby honor George H. Ensley on his exemplary tenure
2-16 as president of the Rotary Club of San Antonio and extend to him
2-17 warmest best wishes for many more years of continued success; and,
2-18 be it further
2-19 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-20 prepared for Mr. Ensley as an expression of high regard by the
2-21 Texas House of Representatives.
