No. 697 74R11223 PAN-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 members of the talented Mansfield Gold Dusters Drill Team for their 1-3 many significant achievements during the 1994-1995 season; and 1-4 WHEREAS, In preparation for the rigorous year of competition 1-5 that awaited them, the Gold Dusters attended a week of summer camp 1-6 at Austin College in Sherman, where they trained strenuously to 1-7 hone their skills under expert direction at the Starmakers Dance 1-8 and Performance Camps; and 1-9 WHEREAS, In the fall, these vivacious young women performed 1-10 flawlessly at each football game, despite episodes of inclement 1-11 weather, before turning their attention to the school's basketball 1-12 team, which also benefitted greatly from their energy and drive; 1-13 and 1-14 WHEREAS, The Mansfield High School drill team has had a 1-15 number of other exciting opportunities at which to showcase its 1-16 outstanding talent as well, having been invited to dance in the 1-17 Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City and at the State 1-18 Capitol in Austin; and 1-19 WHEREAS, For their exceptional performances, the Gold Dusters 1-20 took third place honors at the National Dance Team Championships in 1-21 Dallas and captured a number of prestigious awards at the Showtime 1-22 International Texas Championship in Fort Worth, including a 1-23 Sweepstakes Trophy, a Judge's Award, a Best in Category Award for 1-24 their pom-pom routine, and a coveted spot in the Circle of 2-1 Champions; and 2-2 WHEREAS, Contributing to the team's remarkable success this 2-3 year were the following gifted dancers: Christie Andrews, Jessica 2-4 Bagley, Ashley Baker, Liza Bess, Casey Campbell, Kristina Canright, 2-5 Kristen Derryberry, Kristi Forsong, Jennifer Fox, Shannon Goddard, 2-6 Leslie Hale, Courtney Hightower, Lisa Hulett, Vanessa Jackson, 2-7 Sabrina Janek, Christy McDonald, Lana McMillian, Dana Marley, Kisha 2-8 Mitchell, Lisa Moore, Ashley Odom, Jennifer Reidinger, Jennifer 2-9 Robison, Denise Rosado, Adrienne Townes, Miquelle Turner, Brandy 2-10 Vaughan, and Amanda Walker; and 2-11 WHEREAS, The Gold Dusters received valuable guidance from 2-12 their director, Stephanie Burgoon, and Mansfield High School 2-13 principal Jerry Kirby also played an instrumental role in the 2-14 team's winning season through his unwavering support of the team; 2-15 and 2-16 WHEREAS, Known throughout Texas for their exceptional grace 2-17 and style, the Gold Dusters represent their school with pride, 2-18 dignity, and excellence at each of their performances and they have 2-19 brought well-deserved acclaim to their school and to their 2-20 community through their extensive achievements; now, therefore, be 2-21 it 2-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-23 Legislature hereby commend the Mansfield High School Gold Dusters 2-24 Drill Team and extend sincere congratulations to these gifted young 2-25 women on a superb 1994-1995 season; and, be it further 2-26 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-27 prepared for the team, for its director, and for prominent display 3-1 at Mansfield High School as an expression of high regard by the 3-2 Texas House of Representatives.
