                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, On May 20, 1995, the Network of Black
    1-2  Telecommunicators will hold its Second Annual Awards Banquet at the
    1-3  Fairmont Hotel in Dallas, and this gala promises to be a truly
    1-4  enjoyable and memorable event; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The Network of Black Telecommunicators, the
    1-6  Dallas-based chapter of the National Association of Black
    1-7  Telecommunications Professionals, is an organization dedicated to
    1-8  improving opportunities for African Americans in the
    1-9  telecommunications industry; the network also enhances visibility
   1-10  and facilitates the personal and professional growth of
   1-11  African-American employees at the Southwestern Bell Corporation;
   1-12  and
   1-13        WHEREAS, This exceptional organization has taken a leading
   1-14  role in promoting training, education, and reeducation for
   1-15  employees and in preparing African-American professionals to face
   1-16  the challenges of the rapidly changing telecommunications industry;
   1-17  and
   1-18        WHEREAS, At its second annual banquet and awards ceremony,
   1-19  the Network of Black Telecommunicators will pay tribute to those
   1-20  employees who have made significant contributions to their
   1-21  community and profession; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, This gala affair, which will raise money for the
   1-23  network's many outstanding activities, will be hosted by our
   1-24  distinguished colleague, the Honorable Helen Giddings, and will
    2-1  feature a keynote speech by the Honorable Royce West; awards at the
    2-2  banquet will be presented by the Honorable Yvonne Davis and by
    2-3  Dallas County commissioner, the Honorable John Wiley Price; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, The Network of Black Telecommunicators endeavors to
    2-5  promote excellence in Texas business and to help build a stronger
    2-6  economy and more nurturing communities and families within our
    2-7  state, and it is indeed fitting at this time that this exemplary
    2-8  association be given special legislative recognition; now,
    2-9  therefore, be it
   2-10        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-11  Legislature hereby commend the Network of Black Telecommunicators
   2-12  on the occasion of its Second Annual Awards Banquet and extend
   2-13  warmest best wishes to its members for an enjoyable and successful
   2-14  event; and, be it further
   2-15        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-16  prepared for the Network of Black Telecommunicators as an
   2-17  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
