                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Duncanville resident Dan Eddy has made many
    1-2  invaluable contributions to his nation, state, profession, and
    1-3  community during the past three decades; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Born and raised in Oak Cliff, this distinguished
    1-5  Texan attended North Texas University and Southern Methodist
    1-6  University and was a member of the Dallas Cowboys cheerleading
    1-7  squad during the 1963-1964 season; three years later, Mr. Eddy
    1-8  answered his nation's call to arms and served in the United States
    1-9  Air Force Reserve with valor and distinction until his honorable
   1-10  discharge in 1974; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, A graduate of Leadership Southwest and Leadership
   1-12  Grand Prairie, this remarkable gentleman is well-known within the
   1-13  Texas telecommunications industry for his outstanding business
   1-14  acumen and his unwavering dedication to excellence; an esteemed
   1-15  employee of Southwestern Bell for 27 years, Mr. Eddy today serves
   1-16  as area manager of external affairs for the company; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, He has been an active participant in the Dallas
   1-18  business community as well; a member of no fewer than 11 chambers
   1-19  of commerce, this fine individual has won numerous awards from the
   1-20  Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Mr. Eddy has devoted much of his life toward making
   1-22  Texas a better place in which to work, live, and receive a high
   1-23  quality education; the cofounder and a former chairman of the Best
   1-24  Southwest Scholar's Program and a former president of both the Best
    2-1  Southwest Coalition for Education and the Duncanville Independent
    2-2  School District board of trustees, he is a former chairman of the
    2-3  Dallas/Fort Worth Medical Foundation board of directors, is
    2-4  included in Who's Who in America, and was named the 1994 "Man of
    2-5  the Year" in Duncanville; and
    2-6        WHEREAS, Despite these countless professional and civic
    2-7  activities, Mr. Eddy is above all else a devoted family man who
    2-8  enjoys a richly rewarding marriage with his wife of 29 years,
    2-9  Kathy, and who takes immense pride in his two children, Chris, a
   2-10  member of the Oakland A's professional baseball team, and Jason, a
   2-11  member of the United States Navy; and
   2-12        WHEREAS, In light of these many impressive accomplishments,
   2-13  it is indeed fitting that Mr. Eddy receive special legislative
   2-14  recognition and support at this time; now, therefore, be it
   2-15        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-16  Legislature hereby commend Dan Eddy for his many exceptional
   2-17  achievements; and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-19  prepared for Mr. Eddy as an expression of high regard by the Texas
   2-20  House of Representatives.
