                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The passing of the Honorable Casey Jones Peveto on
    1-2  April 12, 1995, at the age of 83, has brought a great loss to the
    1-3  many friends and relatives of this former Orange County
    1-4  commissioner; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A United States Army veteran, Commissioner Peveto
    1-6  was a dutiful and patriotic man who came to the aid of his country
    1-7  during World War II; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, He distinguished himself in civilian life, also, and
    1-9  he capably represented the concerns of his fellow citizens as
   1-10  Orange County commissioner for Precinct 1 from 1949 to 1975; at the
   1-11  close of his 27 years of service, he had amassed one of the longest
   1-12  tenures as county commissioner in the state of Texas; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Commissioner Peveto's career was marked by many
   1-14  significant accomplishments; during his tenure, the area's
   1-15  "Chemical Row" was developed, adding exponentially to the county's
   1-16  tax base, and many other new businesses located in the region as
   1-17  well; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, An astute administrator, he was well known for his
   1-19  work in the late 1960s to help equalize wages among similar county
   1-20  staff positions; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Highly regarded as a man of vision and integrity,
   1-22  Commissioner Peveto consistently maintained a strong presence on
   1-23  the court during his service under three county judges, and he
   1-24  earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues in
    2-1  commissioners' and county judges' associations throughout the
    2-2  state; and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Commissioner Peveto devoted much of his lifetime to
    2-4  serving the Orange County community, and though his special
    2-5  presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him, his spirit will
    2-6  surely live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives he
    2-7  touched; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of the Honorable Casey
   2-10  Jones Peveto and extend sincere sympathy to the members of his
   2-11  family: to his son, Ronald W. Peveto; to his three daughters,
   2-12  Sandra Pitre, Deborah Bussell, and Karen Anderson; and to his many
   2-13  other friends and relatives; and, be it further
   2-14        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-15  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
   2-16  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-17  the Honorable Casey Jones Peveto.
