                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives takes great pride
    1-2  in welcoming two legendary performers, Waylon Jennings and Jessi
    1-3  Colter, to the State Capitol today; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Both of these extraordinary musicians have brought
    1-5  great pleasure to their legions of fans the world over and have
    1-6  furthered the Texas mystique with their rocking country-western
    1-7  music; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Native son Waylon Jennings was born in Littlefield,
    1-9  Texas, and helped to immortalize Luckenbach, Texas, as a member of
   1-10  the celebrated Highwaymen; he also holds the distinction of having
   1-11  earned a Grammy Award for "McArthur Park" and recorded the first
   1-12  country-western record to go platinum with "Wanted The Outlaw"; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Equally accomplished is Mr. Jennings's talented
   1-14  wife, Jessi Colter, who first broke onto the music scene with the
   1-15  hit, "I'm Not Lisa"; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Country-Western music has long been considered one
   1-17  of this state's most cherished art forms, and it is fitting that we
   1-18  honor these two individuals for their superb contributions to this
   1-19  longstanding Texas tradition; now, therefore, be it
   1-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the State of
   1-21  Texas hereby welcome Waylon Jennings and Jessi Colter on the
   1-22  occasion of their visit to the State Capitol and commend them for
   1-23  their remarkable achievements.
