R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
1-2 Jaime Simon, a gifted student at L.B.J. High School, for his
1-3 achievement in being recognized as an Outstanding African-American
1-4 Student by the Alpha Kappa Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority;
1-5 and
1-6 WHEREAS, A community-conscious, action-oriented organization,
1-7 the sorority is celebrating 75 years of world class service this
1-8 year and is commemorating this significant milestone in its rich
1-9 history by honoring exceptional African-American high school
1-10 students within the Austin Independent School District who have
1-11 excelled in the area of academic achievement, fine arts, or sports;
1-12 and
1-13 WHEREAS, Mr. Simon is being recognized for his academic
1-14 achievements and, to be eligible for receipt of this award, he had
1-15 to earn a grade point average of more than 3.0; in maintaining his
1-16 fine average, this dedicated student has demonstrated his desire
1-17 and ability to achieve his highest potential as he prepares for his
1-18 future role in society; and
1-19 WHEREAS, His noteworthy accomplishment serves as a source of
1-20 inspiration to his peers at L.B.J. High School as well as a shining
1-21 example of the rewards that can be attained from hard work and
1-22 self-discipline; and
1-23 WHEREAS, Mr. Simon has demonstrated exceptional intelligence,
1-24 initiative, and maturity in pursuing his academic goals, and it is
2-1 most fitting that he receive special legislative recognition for
2-2 his noteworthy performance; now, therefore, be it
2-3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
2-4 Legislature hereby congratulate Jaime Simon on being named an
2-5 Outstanding African-American Student for his academic achievements
2-6 and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success in all
2-7 his future endeavors; and, be it further
2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-9 prepared for Mr. Simon as an expression of high regard by the Texas
2-10 House of Representatives.
