                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  the Lancaster High School Tigers boys' basketball team for
    1-3  exceptional accomplishments during the 1994-1995 season; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, With an excellent record of 28 wins and only eight
    1-5  defeats, the team earned a berth in the University Interscholastic
    1-6  League (UIL) Class 4A state tournament; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, The Tigers took the court at the Frank C. Erwin
    1-8  Special Events Center in Austin against top-ranked Port Arthur
    1-9  Lincoln High, but in spite of their valiant performance they fell
   1-10  to the eventual state 4A champions, 61-52; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Although Lancaster High School's bid for the
   1-12  basketball crown was thwarted, the team earned the admiration of
   1-13  fans and foes alike with their spirited effort, not only at the
   1-14  tournament, but also throughout the season; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The season's outstanding accomplishments were the
   1-16  result of a total team effort from members Jermaine Gossett, Damon
   1-17  Hancock, Shennard Brown, Jarian Walker, Jay Sullivan, Cortney Byrd,
   1-18  Sherrard Taylor, John Osborn, Kevin Robinson, Michael Jones, Derek
   1-19  Stricklin, Levonis Miller, Rhonte Davis, Marcus Johnson, and
   1-20  Deandre Wright; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, Head coach Joe Rushing was an inspirational figure
   1-22  to his players, tirelessly schooling them in hardwood techniques
   1-23  while molding each individual player's talents into a successful
   1-24  team concept, and he was ably supported in all his efforts by
    2-1  junior varsity coach Johnny White and 9th grade coach Mark Moore;
    2-2  and
    2-3        WHEREAS, Other invaluable off-the-court assistance was
    2-4  provided by manager Chris Rayson, trainer Thomas Alva,
    2-5  statisticians Jessica Keller, Kristy Caldo, and Kristin Carter,
    2-6  athletic director Robert L. Green, principal Steve Waddell, and
    2-7  superintendent Bill Ward; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, These exemplary young men are a source of tremendous
    2-9  pride to the students and faculty of Lancaster High School and to
   2-10  their many supporters in the community, and their noteworthy
   2-11  accomplishments are indeed worthy of special legislative
   2-12  recognition; now, therefore, be it
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-14  Legislature hereby congratulate the members of the Lancaster High
   2-15  School Tigers boys' basketball team on their outstanding 1994-1995
   2-16  season and extend best wishes for continued success in the future;
   2-17  and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-19  prepared for the team members and coaching staff and for prominent
   2-20  display at Lancaster High School as an expression of high regard by
   2-21  the Texas House of Representatives.
