H.R. No. 740 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Judy McDonald is an outstanding Texan whose myriad 1-2 contributions to her community and state have greatly enhanced the 1-3 lives of many individuals; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born February 10, 1938, in Port Neches, she was 1-5 graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont and attended 1-6 Lamar University and Louisiana State University before transferring 1-7 to Stephen F. Austin State University, where she attained her 1-8 bachelor of arts degree; Mrs. McDonald continued her studies toward 1-9 a master's degree at The University of Texas at Austin and also 1-10 undertook specialized course work in savings and loan marketing at 1-11 the University of Tennessee; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Mrs. McDonald currently serves as community 1-13 relations director for Medical Center Hospital in Nacogdoches and 1-14 has long distinguished herself through her exemplary public service 1-15 that has encompassed a highly productive eight-year tenure as mayor 1-16 of Nacogdoches and 18 years of tireless service as a member of the 1-17 Nacogdoches City Commission; her sterling efforts in this regard 1-18 have truly ushered in a new era of prosperity for the community she 1-19 is proud to call home; and 1-20 WHEREAS, This dynamic leader also has been appointed to many 1-21 state committees charged with examining issues of great import to 1-22 her fellow Texans by such notables as Governor Ann Richards, 1-23 Governor Mark White, and Attorney General Dan Morales, and she has 1-24 served with distinction whenever called on by our state's leaders; 2-1 and 2-2 WHEREAS, In addition, Mrs. McDonald has given freely of her 2-3 time and talents to benefit such worthy organizations as the 2-4 Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce, United Way, national and 2-5 local parent teacher associations, the American Red Cross, the 2-6 Nacogdoches Humane Society, the Nacogdoches Community Coalition, 2-7 and others too numerous to mention; and 2-8 WHEREAS, Among the many well-deserved accolades given this 2-9 exceptional individual are the Woman of the Year award by the 2-10 American Association of University Women, the Outstanding Chairman 2-11 of the Year award by the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce, 2-12 and life membership in the Texas Parent Teacher Association; and 2-13 WHEREAS, She has been supported in all her many endeavors by 2-14 her devoted husband, Archie, and their two sons, Tucker and 2-15 Christopher; and 2-16 WHEREAS, This remarkable woman continues to serve the 2-17 citizens of Nacogdoches in a host of notable ways, and her lifetime 2-18 of service to her community and state is indeed worthy of special 2-19 legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-20 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-21 Legislature hereby commend Judy McDonald for her many significant 2-22 contributions in the realm of public service and extend sincere 2-23 best wishes to her for continued success and happiness; and, be it 2-24 further 2-25 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-26 prepared for Mrs. McDonald as an expression of high regard by the 2-27 Texas House of Representatives.
