R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
1-2 congratulate the students in Whitney High School's German class on
1-3 their noteworthy achievement in winning the first-place sweepstakes
1-4 trophy for their division at the Texas State German Contest, which
1-5 was held at Baylor University in Waco on March 25, 1995; and
1-6 WHEREAS, In order to qualify for the statewide event,
1-7 contestants had to receive top scores in one of three regional
1-8 competitions held in February that tested their abilities in a
1-9 variety of areas; since all Texas high schools that offer German
1-10 compete together, Whitney's class 3A team faced formidable
1-11 opponents from several 4A and 5A schools; and
1-12 WHEREAS, On its way to victory, 13 of Whitney's 16
1-13 competitors placed in the top five positions of this prestigious
1-14 contest, earning vital points for their team; and
1-15 WHEREAS, Under the capable guidance of their teacher, Kathy
1-16 Radde, the students in Whitney High School's German class bested
1-17 the previous year's first-place winners to garner the top prize in
1-18 their division; moreover, this victory marks the third time in the
1-19 past seven years that the school has won first prize at the event;
1-20 and
1-21 WHEREAS, Its talented team members include: Tricia Davison,
1-22 Stephanie Green, Luke Jones, Brenda Pickens, Randall Wehmeyer, Beau
1-23 Bailey, Nick Cleveland, Chris Kelm, Ricky Martin, Patty Reeves,
1-24 Shanna Swinford, Hannah Boyd, Monika Meyer, Anna Clements, Wojtek
2-1 Siulkowski, and Patti Vigil; and
2-2 WHEREAS, Clearly a group of tomorrow's brightest leaders,
2-3 these exceptional students have demonstrated the intelligence,
2-4 initiative, and maturity necessary to pursue and achieve success,
2-5 and it is indeed fitting that they receive special legislative
2-6 recognition on their outstanding achievement at this event; now,
2-7 therefore, be it
2-8 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
2-9 Legislature hereby congratulate the students in Whitney High
2-10 School's German class on their remarkable achievement in winning
2-11 the first-place sweepstakes trophy for their division at the Texas
2-12 State German Contest and extend to them best wishes in all their
2-13 future endeavors; and, be it further
2-14 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-15 prepared for prominent display at Whitney High School as an
2-16 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
