R E S O L U T I O N
1-1 WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the members of the
1-2 Texas House of Representatives welcome to the State Capitol
1-3 students from White Oak High School who have advanced to the state
1-4 level of University Interscholastic League (UIL) literary
1-5 competition; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Our distinguished guests here today have
1-7 demonstrated exceptional academic prowess and creative ability
1-8 throughout their high school careers; Kathleen Cassin, Jamie Jones,
1-9 Chuck Goodson, Steven Tincher, Jon Newkirk, and Jason Folmar have
1-10 shown themselves to be the leaders of tomorrow with their
1-11 outstanding achievements in the areas of science, journalism, ready
1-12 writing, current events, and informative speaking; and
1-13 WHEREAS, These White Oak High School students carry on a long
1-14 and proud tradition for their alma mater, which has earned the UIL
1-15 overall academic title 29 times in 31 years; this remarkable record
1-16 of success is rivaled only by the extraordinary accomplishments of
1-17 the school's graduates, many of whom have gone on to attain
1-18 tremendous academic, professional, and personal success; and
1-19 WHEREAS, The talent, determination, and intelligence
1-20 exhibited by these exemplary young Texans in their pursuit of
1-21 excellence set a high standard to which all students can aspire,
1-22 and their achievements are indeed worthy of special legislative
1-23 recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it
1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
2-1 Legislature hereby commend all of the UIL participants of White Oak
2-2 High School, their teachers, and their justifiably proud parents
2-3 for the school's fine showing at the district UIL academic contest
2-4 and extend warmest best wishes as these capable students represent
2-5 their community at the state level of competition; and, be it
2-6 further
2-7 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
2-8 prepared for prominent display at White Oak High School as an
2-9 expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
