                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Texans throughout the state are indebted to the fine
    1-2  men and women in the law enforcement profession who, because of
    1-3  their selfless dedication to the public welfare, have enabled us to
    1-4  enjoy the benefits of a more peaceful and more orderly society; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Seldom recognized, and often taken for granted by
    1-6  the very public that they so faithfully serve, these gallant
    1-7  individuals daily risk their lives in order to ensure domestic
    1-8  tranquility and to protect the lives and property of other
    1-9  citizens; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Paul Pytel of the San Antonio Park Rangers
   1-11  exemplified in his personal and professional conduct the virtues of
   1-12  courage, integrity, and unwavering dedication to duty; and
   1-13        WHEREAS, Throughout his nine years with the San Antonio Park
   1-14  Rangers, Ranger Pytel's record was one of meritorious service,
   1-15  loyalty, personal bravery, and self-sacrifice consistent with the
   1-16  high ideals of the law enforcement profession; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Killed in the line of duty on July 31, 1994, his
   1-18  untimely death was a tragic loss to his family, to his fellow peace
   1-19  officers, and to the entire community; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, His legacy of heroic dedication and self-sacrifice
   1-21  will endure and will continue to be a source of inspiration to
   1-22  those who follow in a difficult, but essential, profession; now,
   1-23  therefore, be it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-2  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Paul Pytel of the San
    2-3  Antonio Park Rangers and extend deepest sympathy to his wife,
    2-4  Betty; to his parents, Teresa and John; to his sister, Judy; to his
    2-5  brothers, John and Michael; and to the other members of his family;
    2-6  and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-8  prepared for the members of his family, and that when the Texas
    2-9  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-10  Ranger Paul Pytel.
