                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Aldine Youth Organization United to Help (Y.O.U.T.H.) on its
    1-3  selection as one of the Best of Texas programs for 1995 by the
    1-4  Corporate Fund for Children; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Aldine Y.O.U.T.H. was founded in April 1990 by
    1-6  Sylvia Bolling to answer the needs of young people from ages eight
    1-7  to 18 by providing them with a comprehensive program of
    1-8  educational, social, vocational, and recreational activities; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, This exceptional organization works in concert with
   1-10  the Aldine Independent School District and the Aldine and M. D.
   1-11  Anderson YMCAs to enable local youths to make the difficult
   1-12  transition from adolescence to the world of adult responsibility as
   1-13  productive, healthy, and self-sufficient members of society; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, A vital support system for many at-risk children and
   1-15  teens, Aldine Y.O.U.T.H. enables these individuals to set and
   1-16  achieve goals, learn new skills, express their unique talents, and
   1-17  make new friends; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, One of the program's proudest accomplishments has
   1-19  been the formation of a sign language choir, and this talented
   1-20  group has performed at such events as the Texas Special Olympics,
   1-21  the National Conference on Children & Violence, the Governor's
   1-22  Volunteer Leadership Conference, and United Way kickoff campaigns;
   1-23  and
   1-24        WHEREAS, Young Texans hold the future of our state in their
    2-1  hands, and those who help our youth to successfully overcome the
    2-2  challenges at hand and to prepare for tomorrow are providing a
    2-3  service truly worthy of special legislative recognition; now,
    2-4  therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-6  Legislature hereby congratulate Aldine Y.O.U.T.H. on its selection
    2-7  as one of the Best of Texas programs for 1995 by the Corporate Fund
    2-8  for Children and extend sincere best wishes to this outstanding
    2-9  group for its continued success in the future; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for Aldine Y.O.U.T.H. as an expression of high regard by
   2-12  the Texas House of Representatives.
