H.R. No. 803 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 the Wichita Falls Metropolitan YMCA Child Care program for its 1-3 exemplary community service and congratulate the organization on 1-4 its receipt of the Best of Texas Award from the Corporate Fund for 1-5 Children; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The program will be recognized at the annual Best of 1-7 Texas Conference and Gala, which will be held May 4-5, 1995, in 1-8 Austin; now in its fourth year, the awards ceremony honors programs 1-9 throughout the state that address the needs of children and 1-10 families; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Wichita Falls Metropolitan YMCA Child Care has 1-12 earned well-deserved recognition for its model child care program 1-13 and is one of 85 agencies in the Lone Star State to receive this 1-14 prestigious recognition from the Corporate Fund for Children; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Established in 1979 by Levi Strauss Corporation, the 1-16 Texas Department of Human Services, and the Meadows Foundation of 1-17 Dallas to work for the betterment of children and family services, 1-18 the fund's board members and staff work tirelessly to make the most 1-19 advantageous and responsible use of both public and private 1-20 dollars; and 1-21 WHEREAS, The Wichita Falls child care program was established 1-22 10 years ago to meet the needs of the community's growing number of 1-23 latchkey children; working with the Wichita Falls Independent 1-24 School District, the program's directors have developed innovative 2-1 and entertaining on-site after-school programs for area youngsters; 2-2 and 2-3 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to all the children in the 2-4 community, the organization also offers programs for severely 2-5 mentally and physically disabled youths, and it addresses the 2-6 concerns of parents who must work into the night by providing 2-7 late-night child care as well; and 2-8 WHEREAS, The YMCA's program has achieved resounding success 2-9 and currently serves nearly 500 children ages 3-12 in the Wichita 2-10 Falls area; and 2-11 WHEREAS, Under the auspices of United Way of Greater Wichita 2-12 Falls, the Wichita Falls Metropolitan YMCA Child Care program has 2-13 done an outstanding job of meeting the community's needs for 2-14 quality and affordable child care, and it gives the members of this 2-15 chamber great pleasure to honor the program for its exceptional 2-16 accomplishments; now, therefore, be it 2-17 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-18 Legislature hereby honor the Wichita Falls Metropolitan YMCA Child 2-19 Care program for its commendable community service and congratulate 2-20 the organization on its receipt of the 1995 Best of Texas Award; 2-21 and, be it further 2-22 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-23 prepared for the Wichita Falls Metropolitan YMCA Child Care program 2-24 as an expression of high regard by the Texas House of 2-25 Representatives.
