                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Texas Southern University has experienced continued
    1-2  managerial problems that have lowered the morale of the faculty and
    1-3  students at Texas Southern University and tarnished the public
    1-4  image of the university and threaten its survival as an independent
    1-5  institution of higher education; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, The Board of Regents of Texas Southern University,
    1-7  and particularly the chairman of the board of regents, must bear
    1-8  the primary responsibility for the mismanagement of the university;
    1-9  now, therefore, be it
   1-10        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-11  Legislature hereby call on Mr. Rufus Cormier, Jr., chairman and
   1-12  member of the Board of Regents of Texas Southern University, to
   1-13  resign as both chairman and member of the board of regents
   1-14  effective immediately; and, be it further
   1-15        RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be delivered to each
   1-16  member of the Board of Regents of Texas Southern University at the
   1-17  earliest opportunity practicable.
