No. 822 74R11903 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Kingwood High School Lady Mustangs soccer team 1-2 has ascended to the pinnacle of success by winning the 1995 1-3 University Interscholastic League (UIL) state championship and 1-4 finishing the season undefeated; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Making their fourth consecutive appearance in the 1-6 state tournament, the Lady Mustangs took to the field in the title 1-7 game against the Arlington Martin Warriors determined to win the 1-8 title that had previously eluded them; the Kingwood players showed 1-9 true championship heart, triumphing 1-0 to claim the coveted crown 1-10 and finish their season with a perfect record of 29 wins and no 1-11 defeats; and 1-12 WHEREAS, The Lady Mustangs' extraordinary success was a 1-13 result of total dedication to the team concept by players Becky 1-14 Diderich, Lizzy Biles, Kathryn Goff, Julie Faulkner, Shelby Ping, 1-15 Morgan Rittenhouse, Ashlyn Peterson, Sarah Weinstein, Kacy Potok, 1-16 Julie Pinkerton, Carrie Thigpen, Tara Shipman, Amy Olson, Nikki 1-17 McGaughey, Heather Hamner, Erin Mahoney, Sharon Pickering, Erika 1-18 Roser, Jody Budzinski, Becky Icken, Sarah Garbis, Jennifer Grocki, 1-19 and Carrie Stryjek; and 1-20 WHEREAS, Although each player made significant contributions 1-21 to the team's overall success, Lady Mustangs Julie Pinkerton, 1-22 Morgan Rittenhouse, Sharon Pickering, and Tara Shipman also 1-23 garnered individual distinction as members of the all-tournament 1-24 team; and 2-1 WHEREAS, Head coach Kevin Johnson provided outstanding 2-2 leadership and guidance, instilling in his players the desire to 2-3 achieve their best both individually and as a team, and he was ably 2-4 supported in his efforts by assistant coaches Juli Tate and Donnie 2-5 Bodron; other invaluable off-the-field assistance was given by 2-6 manager Sasha Mote and trainer Wade Smith; and 2-7 WHEREAS, This exemplary group of young women is a tremendous 2-8 source of pride to the students and faculty of Kingwood High School 2-9 and their many supporters in the community, and their superb 2-10 achievements are indeed worthy of special legislative recognition; 2-11 now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-13 Legislature hereby congratulate the Kingwood High School Lady 2-14 Mustangs soccer team on its undefeated season and 1995 UIL state 2-15 soccer championship and extend to its members sincere best wishes 2-16 for continued success in the future; and, be it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-18 prepared for the team members and coaching staff and for prominent 2-19 display at Kingwood High School as an expression of high regard by 2-20 the Texas House of Representatives.
