                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to join
    1-2  the citizens of Fort Worth in celebrating the 1995 Chisholm Trail
    1-3  Round-Up festival on June 16-18, 1995; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, More than 100 years ago, industrious and spirited
    1-5  individuals led the last great herd of longhorn cattle along the
    1-6  Chisholm Trail, driving them from the grasslands of South Texas to
    1-7  the railhead in Abilene, Kansas; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, The Chisholm Trail played a vital role in the
    1-9  development of the West as settlements along its path became towns
   1-10  and a few, such as Fort Worth, prospered and grew into thriving
   1-11  cities; today, those locales are connected by a common thread as
   1-12  they continue to share the proud heritage of commerce and adventure
   1-13  that was once the Chisholm Trail; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Now in its 19th year, the Chisholm Trail Round-Up
   1-15  recognizes the remarkable men and women of both tribe and nation
   1-16  who worked together to forge a new way of life on the American
   1-17  frontier; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, One of the largest festivals in the nation, the
   1-19  event benefits western heritage organizations and helps to keep
   1-20  alive the proud history of cooperation, hard work, and initiative
   1-21  that has made both our state and our nation strong; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Held in Fort Worth's historic Stockyards District,
   1-23  the festival offers a combination of fun, food, and friendly
   1-24  competition that promises to be a memorable event for the entire
    2-1  family; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, The Chisholm Trail Round-Up provides an outstanding
    2-3  public service to the Lone Star State by enabling Texans of all
    2-4  ages to experience our proud Western heritage, and the festival's
    2-5  board members and executive committee are indeed deserving of
    2-6  special legislative recognition for their noteworthy efforts; now,
    2-7  therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby commend the 1995 Chisholm Trail Round-Up for its
   2-10  exceptional efforts to preserve our past and join with the citizens
   2-11  of Fort Worth in celebration of this festive event; and, be it
   2-12  further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-14  prepared for the executive committee and board of directors of the
   2-15  1995 Chisholm Trail Round-Up as an expression of high regard by the
   2-16  Texas House of Representatives.
