                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The State of Texas has lost a distinguished Texan
    1-2  with the passing of the Honorable Tony Parra on May 6, 1995, at the
    1-3  age of 46; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, This accomplished public servant was graduated from
    1-5  California State University at Los Angeles with a bachelor of arts
    1-6  degree and furthered his education at New Mexico State University,
    1-7  where he completed his graduate studies with a master of arts
    1-8  degree; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, In 1992, Mr. Parra was elected by the citizens of El
   1-10  Paso to represent their interests in Austin as a member of the
   1-11  House of Representatives of the 73rd Texas Legislature, in which
   1-12  capacity he served his constituents with the utmost integrity and
   1-13  distinction on the county affairs and the international and
   1-14  cultural relations committees; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Throughout his tenure in the house, Mr. Parra earned
   1-16  the respect and admiration of all who were privileged to know him;
   1-17  a man of great character, determination, and vision, his memory
   1-18  will surely live on for many years to come through the many
   1-19  achievements he leaves behind; now, therefore, be it
   1-20        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   1-21  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life and service of the
   1-22  Honorable Tony Parra and extend deepest sympathy to the many
   1-23  friends and relatives of this fine man; and, be it further
    2-1        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-2  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
    2-3  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
    2-4  an esteemed colleague, Tony Parra.
