                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Commissioners Court of Brazoria County has
    1-2  declared May 29, 1995, Frank Zelenske Day, and this special tribute
    1-3  is indeed well deserved; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, This fine gentleman began serving his country in
    1-5  1951 as a member of the 307th Military Police stationed at Fort Sam
    1-6  Houston, and though he received his honorable discharge in 1953, he
    1-7  has remained an ardent supporter of his country and all that is
    1-8  American throughout the ensuing years; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, A member of American Legion Post 241 for nearly four
   1-10  decades, he has served on countless flag and funeral details as
   1-11  well as the post's rifle team and has made it his mission to
   1-12  elevate patriotism among young people today by visiting their
   1-13  schools and other organizations to speak on flag etiquette,
   1-14  Americanism, and other related topics; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Mr. Zelenske has been happily married for 45 years
   1-16  to the former Hazel Haney, who became a charter member of the
   1-17  post's auxiliary and has worked by her husband's side through the
   1-18  years; the parents of three fine children, they modeled and shared
   1-19  their beliefs to the benefit of their family, who spent many hours
   1-20  of their childhood and adolescent years at the American Legion
   1-21  Hall; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, The guiding force behind the Boys' State Oratoricals
   1-23  of the 1950s and the establishment of County Youth Government Day
   1-24  in the 1960s, Mr. Zelenske also played a key role in bringing to
    2-1  fruition the community's first Little League ballpark and has
    2-2  raised thousands of dollars in funding for the Veterans
    2-3  Administration Hospital; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, An integral participant in nearly every successful
    2-5  community effort that has taken place through the years, he has
    2-6  worked diligently to secure advances in areas ranging from health
    2-7  education to political awareness and, for the past decade, has
    2-8  personally orchestrated site management for county political
    2-9  forums; and
   2-10        WHEREAS, In all aspects of his life, Frank Zelenske has
   2-11  consistently set an outstanding example for others to follow
   2-12  through a strong foundation of good citizenship and family values,
   2-13  and it is a privilege to join with the citizens of Brazoria County
   2-14  in honoring him for his extraordinary civic leadership; now,
   2-15  therefore, be it
   2-16        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-17  Legislature hereby commend Frank Zelenske for his many significant
   2-18  contributions to his community, state, and nation, and recognize
   2-19  May 29, 1995, as Frank Zelenske Day; and, be it further
   2-20        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-21  prepared for Mr. Zelenske as an expression of highest regard by the
   2-22  Texas House of Representatives.
