                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Chris Maddux were
    1-2  deeply saddened by the passing of this beloved woman on April 25,
    1-3  1995, at the age of 80; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A native Texan, Mrs. Maddux was born February 1,
    1-5  1915, in Grimes County; she enjoyed a long and rewarding 45-year
    1-6  marriage to her husband, Harold S. Maddux, and they were highly
    1-7  regarded members of the Hurst community for more than four decades;
    1-8  and
    1-9        WHEREAS, Blessed with numerous friends and a loving family,
   1-10  Mrs. Maddux was nurtured by a deep religious faith, and she was an
   1-11  esteemed member of the Euless Church of the Nazarene; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Deeply committed to the needs of her community and
   1-13  her state, this civic-minded woman organized the first State Fire
   1-14  Fighters Auxiliary, and she further worked for the benefit of local
   1-15  emergency personnel as president of the Fort Worth Fire Fighters
   1-16  Auxiliary; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, Mrs. Maddux also was concerned about public
   1-18  education issues as the loving mother of four children, and she was
   1-19  a leading force in the local school system throughout her tenure as
   1-20  president of the Hurst Parent-Teacher Association; in her later
   1-21  years, she devoted considerable time and energy as an active member
   1-22  of the American Association of Retired Persons; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, In serving her family, her church, and her
   1-24  community, this extraordinary woman gave generously to those around
    2-1  her and left them with a legacy of love and compassion by which to
    2-2  remember her; although her presence is gone from us now, her unique
    2-3  spirit will live on in the hearts of the many people whose lives
    2-4  she touched; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-6  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Chris Maddux and
    2-7  extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her
    2-8  husband, Harold S. Maddux; to her son, Thomas F.  Gaines; to her
    2-9  daughters, Gean Greenlee, Gwen Patrick, and Ruby Millikin; to her
   2-10  seven grandchildren; to her eight great-grandchildren; and to her
   2-11  many other friends and relatives; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-13  prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas
   2-14  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-15  Chris Maddux.
