No. 867 74R9932 SAJ-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The passing of Marie Louise Shepperd on August 31, 1-2 1994, at the age of 83, has brought a great loss to the many 1-3 friends and relatives of this lovely woman; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Mrs. Shepperd was born August 14, 1911, in Colorado 1-5 City, Texas, and she wed J. W. Shepperd on June 16, 1930; the happy 1-6 couple enjoyed a deeply fulfilling 44-year union that lasted until 1-7 Mr. Shepperd's passing in 1974; and 1-8 WHEREAS, They settled in Alpine during the early years of 1-9 their marriage and were industrious and esteemed members of that 1-10 community, operating their popular jewelry store there for more 1-11 than 40 years; and 1-12 WHEREAS, A charming and gracious lady, Mrs. Shepperd also 1-13 enjoyed the many close friendships she had formed as an active 1-14 member of the Eastern Star; and 1-15 WHEREAS, This exceptional lady touched the lives of many 1-16 people during her lifetime, and though her presence will be deeply 1-17 missed, her memory will endure in the hearts and minds of all those 1-18 who came to know and love her; now, therefore, be it 1-19 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 1-20 Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Marie Louise Shepperd 1-21 and extend sincere sympathy to the members of her family: to her 1-22 daughter, Marcella Shepperd Newberger; to her son, J. W. "Ticky" 1-23 Shepperd; to her grandchildren, Jill Shepperd and Wesley Shepperd; 1-24 to her sister-in-law, Lucille Henderson; to her nephew, John Riggs 2-1 Shepperd; and to her many other friends and relatives; and, be it 2-2 further 2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-4 prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas 2-5 House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of 2-6 Marie Louise Shepperd.
