                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The passing of community leader Gloria Cadena Bewley
    1-2  on January 14, 1995, has brought a great loss to the many relatives
    1-3  and friends of this outstanding Texan, as well as to the entire
    1-4  city of Eagle Pass; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, A native of Eagle Pass, Mrs. Bewley distinguished
    1-6  herself as one of her hometown's most committed public servants;
    1-7  the former city manager, she served as city secretary for many
    1-8  years and also was employed at the Maverick County Tax Office and
    1-9  the district attorney's office; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Throughout her career, this exceptional woman
   1-11  remained one of the city's most articulate and passionate
   1-12  supporters of education; in addition to her work with the Redeemer
   1-13  Episcopal School, Mrs. Bewley served for eight years as a member of
   1-14  the local school board, including one year as president, and she
   1-15  brought expertise and experience to several key committees that
   1-16  handled some of the city's most important school-related issues;
   1-17  and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Over the course of her life, Mrs. Bewley pursued a
   1-19  quest to enrich her life and the lives of others through education;
   1-20  this dedicated woman attended seminars and completed coursework in
   1-21  real estate, school law, municipal law, election law, management
   1-22  methods, and countless other subjects, and she inspired those
   1-23  around her with her boundless energy and enthusiasm for lifelong
   1-24  learning; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Mrs. Bewley brought much joy and comfort to those
    2-2  around her, and although her presence is gone from us now, the
    2-3  memory of this remarkable individual will continue to live on in
    2-4  the hearts of those whose lives she touched so profoundly during
    2-5  her years on this earth; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Gloria Cadena Bewley
    2-8  and extend deepest sympathy to her relatives and friends; and, be
    2-9  it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for the members of her family and that when the Texas
   2-12  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-13  Gloria Cadena Bewley.
