H.R. No. 871 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas Conference for Homeowners' Rights is a 1-2 coalition of homeowners, trade groups, small businesses, senior 1-3 citizens, educators, and other individuals who support the right of 1-4 Texans to access the equity that they have accumulated in their 1-5 homes; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Part of a broad-based movement, members distribute 1-7 bulletins, articles, videotapes, press releases, and other 1-8 information to one another to educate themselves as to the benefits 1-9 of home equity borrowing, including reverse mortgages, and to 1-10 sharpen their analysis of the various arguments and considerations 1-11 relevant to the issue; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Coalition members and other Texans supportive of 1-13 equity borrowing will be in Austin on Wednesday, May 10, 1995, to 1-14 exercise their freedom of expression and to visit with legislators 1-15 in behalf of the rights and policies they advocate; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Legislators, while obligated to explore fully all 1-17 sides of the debate on all matters before them, recognize the 1-18 importance of home equity and welcome the opportunity to meet with 1-19 constituents to receive their insight into and expertise on the 1-20 subject; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 1-22 Legislature hereby recognize May 10, 1995, as Homeowners' Rights 1-23 Day at the Capitol and extend a welcome to members of the Texas 1-24 Conference for Homeowners' Rights who visit Austin on that day; 2-1 and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-3 prepared for the organization as a token of esteem and hospitality 2-4 from the Texas House of Representatives.
