                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Deputy Sheriff Alan Thompson of the Midland County
    1-2  Sheriff's Department is an outstanding public servant whose heroic
    1-3  actions in the line of duty truly merit special legislative
    1-4  recognition; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, On December 26, 1994, the quick response of Deputy
    1-6  Thompson saved the life of a woman who was critically injured in a
    1-7  traffic accident on Interstate 20; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Deputy Thompson began administering cardiopulmonary
    1-9  resuscitation to the injured lady when he arrived on the scene and
   1-10  maintained the procedure until paramedics were able to transport
   1-11  her to the hospital; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, His crucial timing was instrumental to her recovery
   1-13  from the accident, earning him the heartfelt gratitude of her
   1-14  appreciative family; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The son of Rick and Barbara Jean Thompson, he has
   1-16  distinguished himself as a deputy sheriff with Midland County for
   1-17  the past five years and has earned the respect and trust of his
   1-18  colleagues for his utmost professionalism and dedication to duty
   1-19  throughout his tenure; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, He was recognized for his heroic actions in the line
   1-21  of duty with a special commendation by the Midland County
   1-22  Commissioners Court on January 9, 1995; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Deputy Thompson's great concern for the safety and
   1-24  protection of others has rightfully earned him the admiration and
    2-1  esteem of the citizens of this state, and it is indeed fitting that
    2-2  the Texas House of Representatives recognize his exceptional
    2-3  action; now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-5  Legislature hereby commend Deputy Alan Thompson on his exemplary
    2-6  act of heroism in the line of duty; and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-8  prepared for Deputy Thompson as an expression of high regard by the
    2-9  Texas House of Representatives.
