                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The passing of Perry E. Brown, on June 20, 1994, at
    1-2  the age of 87, has brought a great loss to the many friends and
    1-3  relatives of this esteemed gentleman; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Mr. Brown was born February 24, 1907, in Modesto,
    1-5  California, and like many of his generation, he was a dutiful and
    1-6  patriotic man who came to the aid of his country during World War
    1-7  II, serving with pride and distinction in the United States Navy;
    1-8  and
    1-9        WHEREAS, He nurtured his abiding love for the outdoors
   1-10  through his deeply fulfilling, 40-year association with the
   1-11  National Park Service, which began in 1927; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, In the course of his distinguished career, he worked
   1-13  at some of our country's most treasured national parks, including
   1-14  those at Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Mesa Verde, Mammoth Cave, and Big
   1-15  Bend, where he capably served as superintendent from 1962 until his
   1-16  retirement in 1967; and
   1-17        WHEREAS, His tenure at Big Bend National Park was marked by
   1-18  many significant achievements, including the completion of the Rio
   1-19  Grande Village development, the improvement of accommodations at
   1-20  Chisos Basin, and the construction of employee housing at Panther
   1-21  Junction; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Mr. Brown led a full and active life and greatly
   1-23  enjoyed the many close friendships he formed as a loyal member of
   1-24  the Grand Canyon Masonic Lodge; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, This exceptional gentleman touched the lives of many
    2-2  people during his long and fruitful life, and though his presence
    2-3  will be deeply missed, his memory will endure in the hearts and
    2-4  minds of all those who came to know and love him; now, therefore,
    2-5  be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Perry E. Brown and
    2-8  extend sincere sympathy to his son, Tony Brown, and to his many
    2-9  other friends and relatives; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
   2-12  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-13  Perry E.  Brown.
