No. 882 74R9951 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to 1-2 congratulate Alpine Lodge No. 766 AF & AM on the 100th anniversary 1-3 of its founding and to commend the organization for its many 1-4 outstanding civic contributions; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Chartered by the Grand Lodge of Texas on December 4, 1-6 1894, Alpine Lodge No. 766 had as its original officers J. W. 1-7 Kokernot as master, Dan Carr as senior warden, S. Ferguson as 1-8 junior warden, J. B. Gillett as treasurer, and R. G. Davenport as 1-9 secretary, and the sterling efforts of these men created a legacy 1-10 that has endured for a century; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Alpine Lodge No. 766 was established to foster in 1-12 its members the qualities of brotherhood and community service that 1-13 are at the core of the Masonic credo; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Although the Great Depression created tremendous 1-15 hardship for Alpine Lodge No. 766, its members remained steadfast 1-16 in their commitment to each other and to their fellow citizens, and 1-17 their unshakable faith in the tenets of their brotherhood 1-18 ultimately allowed them to reach a period of greater prosperity; 1-19 and 1-20 WHEREAS, Meetings of the lodge's membership have taken place 1-21 in a variety of locations during its 100 years of existence; the 1-22 land for the current site was generously donated by H. L. Kokernot, 1-23 Jr., in the early 1970s and has served the membership well over the 1-24 course of the past two decades; and 2-1 WHEREAS, The current officers of Alpine Lodge No. 766 are 2-2 Lewis Reynolds, master; Wynn Anderson, senior warden; Robert Glenn, 2-3 junior warden; Thomas Connor, treasurer; Vernon Boysen, secretary; 2-4 John VanDreumel, chaplain; Johnny Griffis, senior deacon; James 2-5 Worster III, junior deacon; James Sohl, senior steward; Bobby Joe 2-6 Rains, junior steward; and James Smith, tiler; and 2-7 WHEREAS, These dedicated men and their fellow lodge members 2-8 continue to support the worthy principles on which the organization 2-9 was founded and have chosen to recognize this historic occasion in 2-10 the lodge's rich history by having a coin struck in commemoration 2-11 of its first century of service to the Alpine community; in light 2-12 of the group's remarkable contributions, it is indeed appropriate 2-13 that Alpine Lodge No. 766 be honored on this momentous occasion; 2-14 now, therefore, be it 2-15 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-16 Legislature hereby congratulate Alpine Lodge No. 766 AF & AM on the 2-17 100th anniversary of its founding and commend both past and present 2-18 members of the lodge for their exemplary service to the citizens of 2-19 Alpine; and, be it further 2-20 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-21 prepared for Alpine Lodge No. 766 AF & AM as an expression of high 2-22 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
