                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, E. F. "Trip" Triplett retired from his position as
    1-2  Pecos County tax assessor-collector on January 31, 1995, thus
    1-3  ending nearly 49 years of service to the taxpayers of his
    1-4  community; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, He began his career in 1946 at the office of the
    1-6  county tax assessor-collector but left to work for the school
    1-7  district, where he was instrumental in establishing the district's
    1-8  tax office; in 1975, his many friends and neighbors in Pecos County
    1-9  elected him to the position of county tax assessor-collector, in
   1-10  which capacity he served with integrity and distinction for the
   1-11  next 20 years; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, Mr. Triplett's distinguished tenure in this position
   1-13  was marked by the consolidation of taxing entities in the area,
   1-14  thus allowing one office to oversee the collection of county, city,
   1-15  and school taxes; he further simplified the tax payment process by
   1-16  implementing a partial payment plan to give residents a more
   1-17  flexible and convenient way to meet their tax obligations; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Such innovative efforts earned him recognition as a
   1-19  champion of the taxpayer, and he was honored by his peers in the
   1-20  statewide County Tax Collectors Association when they named him
   1-21  Outstanding Tax Collector in 1991; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, Mr. Triplett is looking forward to an active
   1-23  retirement, and his plans include traveling, enjoying life, and
   1-24  continuing his rewarding work with the local Lions Club; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, For nearly half a century, Mr. Triplett has worked
    2-2  diligently  in behalf of the people of Pecos County, and his
    2-3  commitment, professionalism, and fairness have earned him the
    2-4  respect and admiration of colleagues and citizens alike; although
    2-5  his leadership will be sorely missed, the members of this chamber
    2-6  are proud to join the residents of Pecos County in commending him
    2-7  for his dedicated public service; now, therefore, be it
    2-8        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-9  Legislature hereby honor E. F. "Trip" Triplett for his many years
   2-10  of service to the people of Pecos County and extend to him warmest
   2-11  best wishes for a happy and fulfilling retirement; and, be it
   2-12  further
   2-13        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-14  prepared for Mr. Triplett as an expression of high regard by the
   2-15  Texas House of Representatives.
