                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The family and many friends of Jose Alberto Ramon
    1-2  suffered a great loss with the untimely passing of this beloved
    1-3  young man on September 15, 1994, at the age of 20; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Although he suffered from Duchenne Muscular
    1-5  Dystrophy, a debilitating and painful neuromuscular disease, Joey
    1-6  Ramon would not allow himself to become a victim; with
    1-7  determination and courage, he continually set higher goals for
    1-8  himself and never stopped striving to meet those goals; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, An honors graduate of Eagle Pass High School, this
   1-10  exceptional young man fulfilled one of his highest aspirations when
   1-11  he enrolled at The University of Texas at Austin; there, he earned
   1-12  the respect, affection, and admiration of many of his classmates
   1-13  and teachers, showing them that there are no limitations on the
   1-14  human spirit, only possibilities; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Mr. Ramon was an inspiration to all who knew him,
   1-16  but more importantly, he was a loving son, brother, and friend who
   1-17  truly brightened the lives of those around him with his boundless
   1-18  enthusiasm and dry sense of humor; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, While it is especially painful to say goodbye to one
   1-20  so young and full of promise, it is fitting to remember that
   1-21  although Mr. Ramon's time here was brief, he touched the hearts of
   1-22  many people throughout his life; though his presence will be deeply
   1-23  missed, his unique spirit will live on in the thoughts and prayers
   1-24  of those who loved him; now, therefore, be it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-2  Legislature hereby pay tribute to the life of Jose Alberto Ramon
    2-3  and extend deepest sympathy to the members of his family: to his
    2-4  parents, Alberto M. and Ellen Monte Ramon; to his sisters and
    2-5  brother-in-law, Margarita Louise Ramon, Soledad Ramon Valenciano,
    2-6  and Lieutenant Carlos Valenciano; to his grandmothers, Margarita R.
    2-7  Ramon and Ruth B. Monte; to his aunts and uncles; and to all the
    2-8  relatives and friends of this extraordinary young man; and, be it
    2-9  further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for the members of his family and that when the Texas
   2-12  House of Representatives adjourns this day, it do so in memory of
   2-13  Jose Alberto Ramon.
