                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  the Farmers Branch and Metrocrest chambers of commerce on the
    1-3  occasion of their visit to the State Capitol on May 16, 1995; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, The first chamber of commerce in our country was
    1-5  organized in 1768 for the purposes of encouraging commerce,
    1-6  supporting industry, providing a forum for discussion of issues
    1-7  relating to trade and navigation, and developing legislation to
    1-8  benefit trade; these laudable goals remain applicable to the
    1-9  chambers of today, as both the Farmers Branch and the Metrocrest
   1-10  chambers actively pursue these interests; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Working together to promote the mutually beneficial
   1-12  interests of businesses and communities, the organizations have
   1-13  enriched the lives of countless residents in the North Dallas
   1-14  communities of Farmers Branch, Carrollton, and Addison by making
   1-15  the area a most desirable place in which to live and work; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Their concerted efforts, along with the active
   1-17  support of local residents and governing bodies, have encouraged
   1-18  businesses to locate in the three communities, providing jobs and a
   1-19  host of other community benefits; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Through their active involvement in business and
   1-21  civic affairs, the chambers have demonstrated their abiding
   1-22  commitment to the betterment of the North Dallas community; thus,
   1-23  it gives the members of this chamber great pleasure to commend
   1-24  these public-spirited organizations for their keen interest in
    2-1  public affairs; now, therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-3  Legislature hereby honor the Farmers Branch and Metrocrest chambers
    2-4  of commerce for their outstanding service to the Lone Star State
    2-5  and extend an official welcome to the members of the visiting
    2-6  delegation; and, be it further
    2-7        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
    2-8  for each chamber of commerce as an expression of high regard by the
    2-9  Texas House of Representatives.
