By Pitts H.R. No. 922 74R12810 BNL-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Dr. Charles E. Boston has dedicated many years of 1-2 his life to spreading the word of God and ministering to the 1-3 spiritual needs of his community, and his efforts have touched the 1-4 lives of countless Texans; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Before devoting his life to the Christian ministry, 1-6 Dr. Boston served his country for 15 years in the United States 1-7 Army, and he received numerous decorations for his distinguished 1-8 service, including the Meritorious Service Medal, the Good Conduct 1-9 Medal, the National Defense Medal, and the NCO Award; and 1-10 WHEREAS, A graduate of Central Texas College and Devry 1-11 Institute of Technology, he also pursued a successful career in the 1-12 electronics field, working as a LORAL electronic technician and as 1-13 an LTV electronic test equipment inspector; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Throughout this time, Dr. Boston continued to pursue 1-15 his Christian education, and by May 1992, he had completed course 1-16 programs in family counseling through the Christ for the Nation 1-17 ministry in Dallas and had earned a diploma from the Southern Bible 1-18 Institute; on May 27, 1993, he was recognized for his devotion and 1-19 hard work when he was awarded an honorary doctor of divinity degree 1-20 from World Christianship Ministries in California; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Since 1989, he has served as pastor of the Little 1-22 Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Hillsboro, where his devout 1-23 prayer, moral guidance, and abiding faith have healed many troubled 1-24 souls; with his wife, Sandra, and daughter, Shonda, this esteemed 2-1 pastor has created a thriving, dynamic ministry that stands as a 2-2 beacon of hope in these difficult times; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Dr. Boston's tireless commitment to the spiritual 2-4 well-being of his congregation has earned him recognition 2-5 throughout his community, and he was named the first Minister of 2-6 the Week for 1995 by Christian radio station KHVN in Dallas; and 2-7 WHEREAS, In serving his family, his church, and his 2-8 community, this extraordinary gentleman has given selflessly of his 2-9 compassion and leadership while asking little in return; Dr. Boston 2-10 has provided those around him with a shining model of Christian 2-11 faith and charity, and he serves as an inspiration to all who are 2-12 privileged to know him; now, therefore, be it 2-13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-14 Legislature hereby honor Dr. Charles E. Boston of the Little Zion 2-15 Missionary Baptist Church of Hillsboro for his outstanding service 2-16 as a minister and extend to him warmest best wishes for continued 2-17 success and happiness; and, be it further 2-18 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-19 prepared for Dr. Boston as an expression of high regard by the 2-20 Texas House of Representatives.
