By Munoz H.R. No. 923 74R12964 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Juan B. Alvarez for his exceptional service to his state and nation 1-3 during World War II; and 1-4 WHEREAS, Born September 29, 1919, in Mission, this patriotic 1-5 individual answered his country's call in the dark and uncertain 1-6 days of World War II by enlisting in the United States Army; and 1-7 WHEREAS, A member of Company B of the 413th Infantry, Private 1-8 Alvarez displayed uncommon valor in service to his country and was 1-9 wounded in action in November 1944; after recuperating from his 1-10 injuries, he was honorably discharged in November of the following 1-11 year; and 1-12 WHEREAS, World War II unified Americans in sentiment and 1-13 purpose to a greater extent than perhaps any other single event in 1-14 our country's history, and nowhere was this feeling of national 1-15 resolve more evident than in the magnificent performance of the men 1-16 and women who served in our armed forces; and 1-17 WHEREAS, It is indeed fitting that, as our nation joins with 1-18 others across the globe in celebration of the 50th anniversary of 1-19 the end of World War II, those brave American soldiers who fought 1-20 in this momentous conflict be given special legislative recognition 1-21 for their courageous deeds; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby commend Juan B. Alvarez for his meritorious 1-24 service to his country during World War II; and, be it further 2-1 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-2 prepared for Mr. Alvarez as an expression of highest regard by the 2-3 Texas House of Representatives.
