                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The student-athletes of Rockdale High School have
    1-2  excelled in every form of athletic endeavor during the 1994-1995
    1-3  school year; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Both the boys' and the girls' basketball teams
    1-5  enjoyed exceptional success this year, with the girls' squad
    1-6  winning the district championship and the boys' team taking
    1-7  district, bidistrict, area, and regional titles en route to a berth
    1-8  in the state championship tournament; and
    1-9        WHEREAS, The school's football team completed a highly
   1-10  successful gridiron campaign by earning third place in district,
   1-11  while the talented members of the girls' cross-country team took
   1-12  the runner-up spot in their district and placed two team members in
   1-13  state competition; also in team sports, the girls' volleyball squad
   1-14  battled its way to a district cochampionship; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Excellence on the diamond was again a hallmark of
   1-16  the girls' softball team, which won its second consecutive district
   1-17  title, and the boys' baseball team competed at a high level as
   1-18  well; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, The girls' golf team took yet another district
   1-20  championship for Rockdale High School, with the individual efforts
   1-21  of Rosie Johnson and Kelly Bujnoch earning those two fine athletes
   1-22  first place and third place medals, respectively, and Jimmy
   1-23  Goeppinger of the boys' golf team also earned individual
   1-24  distinction with a third place finish in district; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, In track and field, not only did the boys' team take
    2-2  district and regional titles, but team members Brooks Bassler, P.
    2-3  J. Williams, Tyrone Mitchell, Winston Nelson, and Ken White also
    2-4  qualified for the state track and field meet; the girls' team also
    2-5  produced stellar individual performances by Tanya Ortega, Krista
    2-6  Robinson, and Stacie Rash, all of whom advanced to regional
    2-7  competition; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Rockdale High School was well represented in the
    2-9  sport of tennis by Adam Razo, who won the district singles
   2-10  championship and was third in regional competition, by Tiffany
   2-11  Woolverton, who earned both district and regional singles titles,
   2-12  by Sharon Wallis, who placed second in district and third in
   2-13  regional competition, and by the dynamic doubles team of Beth
   2-14  Burnett and Casey Johnston, who also earned district championship
   2-15  honors; and
   2-16        WHEREAS, Many of the finest high school coaches in the state
   2-17  have brought their skills to bear at Rockdale High School,
   2-18  including Casey Creghan, who also serves as athletic director, Ken
   2-19  Kelso, Terry Pope, Paul Walker, Jaime Boswell, Dean Hollingsworth,
   2-20  Ben Gittinger, Mike Christensen, Larry Pipkin, Janet Havelka,
   2-21  Angela White, Paul Dixon, Randy Robinson, Laura Boyer, and Mickey
   2-22  Rundell; and
   2-23        WHEREAS, The dedicated and talented young men and women who
   2-24  represent Rockdale High School in athletic competition are a source
   2-25  of tremendous pride to the students and faculty of that fine
   2-26  institution as well as to their many supporters in the community,
   2-27  and their phenomenal accomplishments this season are indeed worthy
    3-1  of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
    3-2        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    3-3  Legislature hereby congratulate Rockdale High School's
    3-4  student-athletes for their exceptional achievements during the
    3-5  1994-1995 school year and extend to them sincere best wishes for
    3-6  continued success in their future endeavors; and, be it further
    3-7        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    3-8  prepared for prominent display at Rockdale High School as an
    3-9  expression of high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
