                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  Terry Pope for his many outstanding achievements as a coach at
    1-3  Rockdale High School; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A 27-year veteran of the teaching and coaching
    1-5  professions, he has been a valued member of the staff at Rockdale
    1-6  High School for the past five years and has brought his
    1-7  considerable expertise to bear both as head coach of the track team
    1-8  and as assistant coach of the football team throughout his
    1-9  accomplished tenure; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, During the 1994-1995 season alone, Coach Pope led
   1-11  the school's track squad to its third consecutive district
   1-12  championship and the team also claimed the regional title; eight of
   1-13  his talented athletes moved on to individual competition at the
   1-14  regional level, with six of them continuing on to compete at the
   1-15  statewide level; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, In the preceding four years, Coach Pope played a
   1-17  vital role in qualifying a phenomenal total of 29 members of the
   1-18  Rockdale High School track team for regional competition, with
   1-19  seven of those advancing to the state championship meet; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, In acknowledgement of his superlative efforts in
   1-21  behalf of his young charges at Rockdale High School, Coach Pope has
   1-22  twice been selected to receive the prestigious Teacher Recognition
   1-23  Grant; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, Coach Terry Pope has consistently inspired his
    2-1  athletes to perform at the highest possible level; his teams are a
    2-2  tremendous source of pride to the students and faculty of Rockdale
    2-3  High School and his many accomplishments in this regard are truly
    2-4  worthy of special legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-5        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-6  Legislature hereby commend Terry Pope for his extraordinary
    2-7  contributions to the students of Rockdale High School and extend
    2-8  warmest best wishes to him for continued success in all future
    2-9  endeavors; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for Coach Pope as an expression of high regard by the
   2-12  Texas House of Representatives.
