H.R. No. 945 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, On May 14, 1995, David P. Andis will graduate magna 1-2 cum laude from the University of Houston Law Center, and to the 1-3 many friends and relatives of this outstanding Texan this promises 1-4 to be a truly joyful and memorable event; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Mr. Andis received his bachelor's degree from Baylor 1-6 University in 1983 and embarked on his studies at the University of 1-7 Houston Law Center nearly a decade later, completing an intensive 1-8 four-year program in only three years; the editor of the Houston 1-9 Journal of International Law, this exemplary individual was awarded 1-10 both the W. W. Watkins Scholarship and the John and Becky Moores 1-11 Scholarship; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Recently invited to join the prestigious honor 1-13 society, the Order of the Barons, Mr. Andis has won the respect and 1-14 admiration of professors and students alike for the intelligence, 1-15 insight, and integrity he has brought to the classroom; an 1-16 accomplished scholar who is poised to take the legal profession by 1-17 storm, he has garnered countless trial advocacy honors, including 1-18 the Excellence in Advocacy Award and two American Jurisprudence 1-19 Awards; and 1-20 WHEREAS, This stellar record of academic and professional 1-21 achievement is all the more remarkable because Mr. Andis attended 1-22 law school while working full-time, maintaining a strong and happy 1-23 marriage with his wife, Anne, and being a supportive and loving 1-24 father to his two small daughters, Bethany Grace and Hannah Leigh; 2-1 through his courage, diligence, and determination, this exceptional 2-2 gentleman has indeed shown himself to be a Texan worthy of special 2-3 legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 2-4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-5 Legislature hereby commend David Andis of The Woodlands for his 2-6 many outstanding academic, professional, and personal 2-7 accomplishments on the momentous occasion of his graduation from 2-8 the University of Houston Law Center; and, be it further 2-9 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-10 prepared for Mr. Andis as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-11 House of Representatives.
