H.R. No. 961 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Denise Christine Phillips has given generously of 1-2 her time and talent as a legislative intern in the House District 1-3 138 office, and her upcoming graduation from Southwest Texas State 1-4 University is indeed deserving of special praise and recognition; 1-5 and 1-6 WHEREAS, Ms. Phillips will receive a bachelor of arts degree 1-7 in political science on August 12, 1995, and her experience as an 1-8 aide to Representative Ken Yarbrough will undoubtedly be a 1-9 tremendous asset to her as she pursues a career in this field; and 1-10 WHEREAS, While serving as a legislative intern, this 1-11 outstanding young woman demonstrated her ability to work 1-12 competently and quickly in a demanding office environment; 1-13 respected by her colleagues for her forthright and direct manner, 1-14 she was entrusted with many diverse responsibilities and became an 1-15 integral part of the office's operations; and 1-16 WHEREAS, In addition, Ms. Phillips managed to balance her 1-17 obligations as an intern and as a student with the demands of a 1-18 part-time job, continuing to work as a cashier and clerk for a Del 1-19 Valle business throughout the legislative session; and 1-20 WHEREAS, A longtime resident of Cedar Creek, Ms. Phillips 1-21 enjoys reading, swimming, and biking, and she is an avid jogger who 1-22 often competes in 5- and 10-kilometer races; she maintains the good 1-23 health needed for such strenuous physical activity by following a 1-24 strict vegetarian lifestyle; and 2-1 WHEREAS, During the Regular Session of the 74th Legislature, 2-2 Ms. Phillips distinguished herself as a valued and trusted aide, 2-3 and her tireless efforts in behalf of the District 138 office 2-4 helped to ensure its smooth functioning throughout a difficult and 2-5 demanding session; now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-7 Legislature hereby honor Denise Christine Phillips for her 2-8 dedicated service as a legislative intern and extend to her warmest 2-9 congratulations on the occasion of her graduation from Southwest 2-10 Texas State University; and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for Ms. Phillips as an expression of high regard by the 2-13 Texas House of Representatives.
