                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to
    1-2  commend Phil R. Parker for the many significant contributions he
    1-3  has made to the Grapevine community and congratulate him on his
    1-4  receipt of the 1995 D. E. Box Citizen of the Year Award; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Mr. Parker was born January 8, 1946, in Grapevine,
    1-6  and after graduating from Grapevine High School in 1964, he
    1-7  continued his education at Texas Christian University; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Well regarded throughout the community as an
    1-9  accomplished businessman, Mr. Parker has been an entrepreneur since
   1-10  1973; he was the proprietor of Parker's Texas Grill, and he has
   1-11  owned and operated Willhoite's Restaurant since 1980; and
   1-12        WHEREAS, A man of many diverse interests and talents, he also
   1-13  has enjoyed a successful venture in real estate as an investor and
   1-14  developer; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, Throughout his distinguished career, Mr. Parker has
   1-16  demonstrated a deep and abiding commitment to the Grapevine
   1-17  community, and he served his fellow citizens with integrity and
   1-18  distinction as a member of both the Grapevine City Council and the
   1-19  Grapevine-Colleyville Independent School District board of
   1-20  trustees; and
   1-21        WHEREAS, He also has marshalled his extensive business skills
   1-22  to work for the benefit of the local economy, serving as director
   1-23  of Texas Bank and as officer and director of both the American
   1-24  Business Club of Grapevine and the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce;
    2-1  and this remarkable gentleman currently serves with distinction as
    2-2  director of the advisory board for the Grapevine Convention and
    2-3  Visitors Bureau; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, His noteworthy accomplishments have earned him much
    2-5  acclaim, and he has been recognized for his achievements by the
    2-6  school district, the Kiwanis Club, and the National Association of
    2-7  American Business Clubs; in addition, one of his establishments was
    2-8  selected as Grapevine's Business of the Year; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, Mr. Parker is an outstanding individual who has left
   2-10  an indelible mark on his community both as a businessman and as a
   2-11  civic leader, and he is indeed deserving of special recognition on
   2-12  the occasion of his most recent honor; now, therefore, be it
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-14  Legislature hereby commend Phil R. Parker for the many significant
   2-15  contributions he has made to the Grapevine community and
   2-16  congratulate him on his receipt of the D. E. Box Citizen of the
   2-17  Year Award; and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-19  prepared for Mr. Parker as an expression of high regard by the
   2-20  Texas House of Representatives.
