H.R. No. 977 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor 1-2 Joran Meeks of Hamshire-Fannett High School on winning the 1995 1-3 University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 3A state golf 1-4 championship; and 1-5 WHEREAS, This exceptional young athlete finished the two-day 1-6 competition at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin with an 1-7 outstanding 36-hole total score of 144, rallying from a 1-8 three-stroke deficit in the final round to claim the coveted crown; 1-9 and 1-10 WHEREAS, Having ascended to the pinnacle of success in high 1-11 school golf, Mr. Meeks plans to continue his pursuit of excellence 1-12 on the links as a member of the golf squad at Lamar University; and 1-13 WHEREAS, To compete at the highest level in the sport of 1-14 golf, a player must have athletic ability, mental durability, and 1-15 the heart of a champion, and Joran Meeks truly possesses all of 1-16 these qualities; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Joran Meeks is a tremendous source of pride to the 1-18 students and faculty at Hamshire-Fannett High School as well as his 1-19 many supporters in the community, and his extraordinary 1-20 accomplishments in the sport of golf are indeed worthy of special 1-21 legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it 1-22 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 1-23 Legislature hereby congratulate Joran Meeks on winning the 1995 UIL 1-24 Class 3A state golf championship and extend sincere best wishes to 2-1 him for continued success in all future endeavors; and, be it 2-2 further 2-3 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-4 prepared for Mr. Meeks as an expression of high regard by the Texas 2-5 House of Representatives.
