                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Commander Patrick L. Beatty has served both his
    1-2  state and his nation with pride and distinction for more than a
    1-3  decade, and his exemplary record of military service is indeed
    1-4  deserving of special legislative recognition; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, After enlisting in the United States Army in 1982,
    1-6  this dedicated soldier worked for several years in the special
    1-7  operations and counterintelligence fields; as part of his intensive
    1-8  training, he studied Polish at the Defense Language Institute in
    1-9  Monterey, California, and became proficient in counterterrorist
   1-10  operations; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, He later served overseas as chief of the pay and
   1-12  examination division of a base in Augsburg, Germany, and he
   1-13  currently serves as commander of B Detachment 105th Finance
   1-14  Battalion at Fort Bliss; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, In recognition of his meritorious service, Commander
   1-16  Beatty has been awarded five Army Commendation Medals and four Army
   1-17  Achievement Medals; he also was the 1992 recipient of the Omar N.
   1-18  Bradley Award honoring the best junior officer stationed at Fort
   1-19  Bliss; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Despite the demands of his military service,
   1-21  Commander Beatty has earned a bachelor of arts degree in business
   1-22  administration from Methodist College, and throughout his many
   1-23  endeavors, he has enjoyed the love and support of his wife, Jane
   1-24  Beatty, and their lovely daughter, Rachel; and
    2-1        WHEREAS, Commander Patrick L. Beatty exemplifies the traits
    2-2  of courage, honor, integrity, and discipline that are the highest
    2-3  ideals of our nation's armed forces, and in doing this, he has
    2-4  earned the respect and admiration of his colleagues and the
    2-5  gratitude of his fellow Texans; now, therefore, be it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby honor Commander Patrick L. Beatty for his
    2-8  outstanding military service and extend to him warmest best wishes
    2-9  for many more years of continued success; and, be it further
   2-10        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-11  prepared for Commander Beatty as an expression of high regard by
   2-12  the Texas House of Representatives.
