No. 987 74R13436 WMS-D R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Sergeant Investigator Tommy Dwain Kidd is retiring 1-2 from the Texas Department of Public Safety on May 31, 1995, 1-3 bringing to a close an extraordinary career with the department 1-4 that has spanned two decades; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born March 28, 1950, in Beeville, this native Texan 1-6 was graduated from Refugio High School and pursued his higher 1-7 education at Baylor University, where he attained his bachelor of 1-8 arts degree in 1974; and 1-9 WHEREAS, He began his career with the Department of Public 1-10 Safety in 1975 as a highway patrolman assigned to Region 3A, 1-11 covering Hallettsville and Lavaca County, and he brought to that 1-12 position the courage and dedication to duty that have remained the 1-13 hallmarks of his many endeavors as a law enforcement officer 1-14 throughout the ensuing years; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Having transferred to driver's license service in 1-16 the Hallettsville area in 1981, Sergeant Investigator Kidd 1-17 relocated to San Antonio shortly thereafter and was appointed to 1-18 the post of investigator for narcotics-related cases, in which 1-19 capacity he maintained a superb record of service; and 1-20 WHEREAS, He became a member of the Victoria County narcotics 1-21 squad in 1983 and was a lead investigator in operation "cash crop" 1-22 from 1983 to 1985, a highly successful operation that yielded 44 1-23 indictments and the seizure of $34 million in assets; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Named a sergeant investigator in 1989, this 2-1 respected officer has set an inspiring example of professional 2-2 excellence and dedication throughout his illustrious career, and he 2-3 is indeed deserving of special legislative recognition for his 2-4 outstanding contributions in this regard; now, therefore, be it 2-5 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-6 Legislature hereby congratulate Sergeant Investigator Tommy Dwain 2-7 Kidd on his exemplary accomplishments as an officer for the Texas 2-8 Department of Public Safety and extend sincere best wishes to him 2-9 for continued happiness and success in all his future endeavors; 2-10 and, be it further 2-11 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-12 prepared for Sergeant Investigator Kidd as an expression of high 2-13 regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
