                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, Emily Sadegh is completing her first session as a
    1-2  legislative intern and her outstanding contributions in this regard
    1-3  have greatly benefitted the citizens of District 138; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, A student at The University of Texas at Austin,
    1-5  Ms. Sadegh displayed exceptional skill and dedication as an intern
    1-6  in the office of State Representative Ken Yarbrough during the 74th
    1-7  Regular Session, in which capacity she has done an excellent job of
    1-8  handling constituent relations, following legislation, and
    1-9  performing other essential tasks; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Ms. Sadegh attended Barnard College in New York
   1-11  where she made the Dean's List and continued to compile an
   1-12  impressive record of academic achievement that included her
   1-13  selection as a National Merit Commended Scholar and studies abroad
   1-14  at the Institute for European Studies in Germany; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, A magna cum laude graduate of Robert E. Lee High
   1-16  School in San Antonio in 1992, Ms. Sadegh is a well-rounded student
   1-17  who excels at tennis, art, and dance, in addition to academics, and
   1-18  is active in her church, where she has served as president and
   1-19  treasurer of her youth group and was one of just a handful of
   1-20  church members chosen to attend a Peace Disarmament Conference held
   1-21  at the United Nations; and
   1-22        WHEREAS, In addition to fulfilling her duties as a student,
   1-23  Ms. Sadegh also has given generously of her time as a volunteer for
   1-24  the Capital Area Food Bank and the presidential campaign; her
    2-1  interest in politics has led to her recent selection to
    2-2  Participation 2000, a campaign training workshop sponsored by the
    2-3  Democratic Leadership Committee; and
    2-4        WHEREAS, This accomplished young woman plans to graduate from
    2-5  The University of Texas in December 1995 and, as the legislative
    2-6  session draws to a close, her friends and coworkers wish her the
    2-7  very best in achieving this important goal and in all of her future
    2-8  endeavors; and
    2-9        WHEREAS, A joy to all who know her, Emily Sadegh has earned
   2-10  high esteem for her positive personality, talent, and dedication,
   2-11  and it is fitting at this time that she be commended for her
   2-12  extensive achievements and contributions; now, therefore, be it
   2-13        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-14  Legislature hereby congratulate Emily Sadegh on her exemplary
   2-15  service to the house as a legislative intern and extend sincere
   2-16  best wishes to her for continued happiness and success in the years
   2-17  to come; and, be it further
   2-18        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-19  prepared for Ms. Sadegh as an expression of highest regard by the
   2-20  Texas House of Representatives.
