                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The City of Buffalo Gap, located in West Central
    1-2  Texas, is a very popular and historic area of West Texas, known for
    1-3  its natural beauty of plentiful live oak trees and natural
    1-4  abundance of water; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, The abundance of natural resources is what attracted
    1-6  great herds of buffalo in the early 1800s, and the Indians that
    1-7  followed them, along with the early Texas settlers who pursued
    1-8  these great herds for their "convenience store" type benefits of
    1-9  meat, skins, and bones, which provided food, clothing, and weapons;
   1-10  and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Buffalo Gap is located in the gap of the Callahan
   1-12  Divide, which crosses the south-central part of the present-day
   1-13  Taylor County, and while once being the county seat of Taylor
   1-14  County, Buffalo Gap yielded the seat of activity to Abilene many
   1-15  years ago; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Buffalo Gap is presently enjoying economic and
   1-17  population growth, with much tourist activity centered around
   1-18  famous restaurants, Perini Ranch, Buffalo Gap Historic District,
   1-19  Buffalo Gap Flea Market, Taylor County Old Settlers Reunion, which
   1-20  is celebrating its 75th anniversary in this year, Pioneer Days,
   1-21  Annual Chili Super Bowl, and Christmas in the Gap, as well as many
   1-22  other special events and places; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, The leadership and the entire community of Buffalo
    2-1  Gap truly merit special recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-2        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-3  Legislature hereby honor the leaders and community of Buffalo Gap,
    2-4  Texas, for their exemplary efforts in the fields of community
    2-5  pride, tourism, and preservation of history; and, be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That official copies of this resolution be prepared
    2-7  for the community leaders of Buffalo Gap as an expression of high
    2-8  regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
