                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, While few athletic teams are able to realize the
    1-2  dream of attaining a state championship in their given sport, fewer
    1-3  still can marshal the dedication and drive needed to repeatedly
    1-4  duplicate such a task; among that elite group is the Bastrop High
    1-5  School Lady Bears golf team, which in 1995 earned its third
    1-6  consecutive University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 4A state
    1-7  championship; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, After racing to an 11-shot lead following the first
    1-9  day of competition at Jimmy Clay Golf Course in Austin, the Lady
   1-10  Bears held off a determined effort by Andrews High School in the
   1-11  second round to take the tournament title by 10 strokes, becoming
   1-12  only the ninth golf team in history to win three successive
   1-13  championships; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, The season's outstanding achievements were the
   1-15  result of a total commitment to team excellence by members Amanda
   1-16  Workman, Lisa Cervantes, Stephanie Glenn, Jessica Travis, and
   1-17  Caitlyn Felder, each of whom gave their finest efforts to claim yet
   1-18  another coveted state title for their school; and
   1-19        WHEREAS, Coach Marcus Evans labored tirelessly to help his
   1-20  young charges fulfill their championship dream and his exceptional
   1-21  contributions, combined with those of his players, have truly
   1-22  created a dynasty in girls' golf at Bastrop High School; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, These exemplary young women are a source of great
   1-24  pride to the students and faculty of Bastrop High School as well as
    2-1  their many supporters in the community, and their impressive
    2-2  achievements are indeed worthy of special legislative recognition;
    2-3  now, therefore, be it
    2-4        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-5  Legislature hereby congratulate the Bastrop High School girls' golf
    2-6  team on winning the UIL Class 4A state championship for the third
    2-7  consecutive year and extend to the members of the team sincere best
    2-8  wishes for continued success in the future; and, be it further
    2-9        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-10  prepared for the team members and coaching staff and for prominent
   2-11  display at Bastrop High School as an expression of high regard by
   2-12  the Texas House of Representatives.
