                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, G. D. "Rip" Lasater is retiring from his position as
    1-2  superintendent of the Sundown Independent School District, drawing
    1-3  to a close a distinguished career as a teacher and administrator
    1-4  that has spanned 33 years; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Born in Andrews to Ruby and Virgil Lasater, he
    1-6  attended school locally and pursued his higher education at
    1-7  Hardin-Simmons University, earning his bachelor of arts degree in
    1-8  1962; he later attained a master of arts degree in English and
    1-9  secondary teaching administration; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Eager to participate in the vital process of shaping
   1-11  young minds, he joined the staff of Hobbs Municipal Schools in 1962
   1-12  and, during his 16-year tenure there, set exemplary standards of
   1-13  excellence in such varied roles as classroom teacher, director of
   1-14  publicity, assistant junior high school principal, and elementary
   1-15  school principal; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, Mr. Lasater relocated to Sundown in 1978 to assume
   1-17  the position of superintendent of Sundown ISD and has demonstrated
   1-18  remarkable administrative ability during his 17 years in that
   1-19  difficult and demanding job; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, He has been supported in all his endeavors by his
   1-21  devoted wife, Julia, by his children, Laurie and Marianne, and by
   1-22  his grandchildren, Tabor, Briana, and Grant; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, After more than three decades of outstanding service
   1-24  in the field of education, Mr. Lasater can indeed look back with
    2-1  tremendous pride on his exemplary career as an educator and
    2-2  administrator and begin his well-deserved retirement with
    2-3  satisfaction knowing that he has made a positive difference in the
    2-4  lives of several generations of schoolchildren; now, therefore, be
    2-5  it
    2-6        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-7  Legislature hereby congratulate G. D. "Rip" Lasater on his
    2-8  exceptional accomplishments in the field of education and extend to
    2-9  him best wishes for a happy and rewarding retirement; and, be it
   2-10  further
   2-11        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-12  prepared for Mr. Lasater as an expression of high regard by the
   2-13  Texas House of Representatives.
