                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The wedding anniversary of two Texans who have
    1-2  shared 60 happy and rewarding years of marriage is truly a
    1-3  memorable occasion worthy of special recognition; and
    1-4        WHEREAS, Felton and Gail Lawrence will have the privilege of
    1-5  commemorating such a momentous event in their lives when they
    1-6  celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary on September 7, 1995; and
    1-7        WHEREAS, The Lawrences are both natives of Lafayette,
    1-8  Louisiana, and grew up in the same neighborhood; Mr. Lawrence
    1-9  graduated from St. Paul High School, and his lovely and gracious
   1-10  wife received her diploma from Paul Breaux High School; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, United in matrimony at St. Nicholas Catholic Church
   1-12  in Houston in 1935, the couple has enjoyed a deeply fulfilling
   1-13  marriage that has grown in love and mutual respect with each
   1-14  passing year and that has been blessed by the births of three
   1-15  cherished children; and
   1-16        WHEREAS, The Lawrences continue to make their home in
   1-17  Houston, where they have been industrious and welcomed members of
   1-18  their community, enriching not only their own lives but the lives
   1-19  of those around them with their devotion to each other; and
   1-20        WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence have also served the community
   1-21  well by instilling in their children the traditional family values
   1-22  of hard work, achievement, and community involvement; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Impressing upon their children the value of a good
   1-24  education, they were rewarded by the educational achievements and
    2-1  subsequent success of each of their children:  Annmarlen Thomas has
    2-2  served as a positive role model to countless youths as a
    2-3  schoolteacher in Dallas, Dion Paul Lawrence graduated from the
    2-4  University of Houston and enjoys a successful engineering career in
    2-5  our nation's capital, and Maria Rochelle Ross followed in her
    2-6  brother's footsteps by furthering her education at the University
    2-7  of Houston; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, Now surrounded by a loving family that has grown to
    2-9  include six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, Mr. and
   2-10  Mrs. Lawrence are deservedly enjoying the benefits of a full and
   2-11  rewarding life together; and
   2-12        WHEREAS, For six decades, Felton and Gail Lawrence have
   2-13  shared a strong and lasting marriage filled with many happy times
   2-14  and cherished family memories; built on a foundation of mutual
   2-15  love, trust, and support, their life together has been a source of
   2-16  joy and inspiration to the many friends and relatives of this
   2-17  fortunate pair; now, therefore, be it
   2-18        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-19  Legislature hereby congratulate Felton and Gail Lawrence on the
   2-20  occasion of their 60th wedding anniversary and extend to them
   2-21  warmest best wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
   2-22        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-23  prepared for Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence as an expression of high regard
   2-24  by the Texas House of Representatives.
