                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, It is with great pleasure that the members of the
    1-2  Texas House of Representatives join with the students and fellow
    1-3  staff members of The University of Texas at Austin College of
    1-4  Pharmacy in paying tribute to one of our state's preeminent
    1-5  pharmacists, William Arlyn Kloesel, as he retires and draws to a
    1-6  close a truly illustrious career that has spanned more than three
    1-7  decades; and
    1-8        WHEREAS, Mr. Kloesel embarked on his chosen path in 1962 when
    1-9  he was employed as a staff pharmacist at Sommer's Drug in Austin,
   1-10  where he eventually became manager of this community-oriented
   1-11  pharmacy; in 1980, he was selected to coordinate the College of
   1-12  Pharmacy continuing education program, and his exceptional
   1-13  abilities as an educator and administrator were immediately
   1-14  recognized by all; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, In the years that followed, this outstanding Texan
   1-16  shaped the destiny of the College of Pharmacy at The University of
   1-17  Texas at Austin, serving with honor and distinction as the director
   1-18  of professional affairs, associate head of clinical pharmacy, and
   1-19  assistant dean; recognized as one of the university's finest
   1-20  student advisors, Mr. Kloesel has been awarded the prestigious
   1-21  Texas Excellence Teaching Award, the William J. Sheffield
   1-22  Outstanding Alumnus Award, and the College of Pharmacy Alumni
   1-23  Association's Pharmacy Legend award; and
   1-24        WHEREAS, This remarkable individual has set new standards of
    2-1  excellence in his field and has played a leading role in the
    2-2  development of many top pharmacy organizations throughout the
    2-3  state; a former president of the Capitol Area Pharmaceutical
    2-4  Association and Texas State Board of Pharmacy, he has presided over
    2-5  countless boards and committees of the Texas Pharmacy Association
    2-6  and has spent many intense hours conducting interventions for the
    2-7  Pharmacists Recovery Network; and
    2-8        WHEREAS, This man of rare insight and vision will be
    2-9  profoundly missed by his fellow faculty members at the College of
   2-10  Pharmacy, but it is perhaps the students who will miss him most; he
   2-11  has inspired, guided, and illuminated the lives of his students for
   2-12  more than a decade, providing the support and encouragement they
   2-13  need to become outstanding pharmacists as well as outstanding human
   2-14  beings; and
   2-15        WHEREAS, After his retirement, Mr. Kloesel looks forward to
   2-16  spending more time with his lovely wife, Mary Carol, and with his
   2-17  children and grandchildren; as he leaves, he can rest assured that
   2-18  his integrity, commitment, and compassion will never be forgotten
   2-19  by those he has worked with over the course of his career as a
   2-20  pharmacist, educator, and mentor; now, therefore, be it
   2-21        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
   2-22  Legislature hereby congratulate William Arlyn Kloesel on the
   2-23  occasion of his retirement from The University of Texas at Austin
   2-24  College of Pharmacy and extend to him warmest best wishes for
   2-25  continued happiness and success in his future endeavors; and, be it
   2-26  further
   2-27        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    3-1  prepared for Mr. Kloesel as an expression of highest regard by the
    3-2  Texas House of Representatives.
