H.R. No. 1038 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Recognized as one of the finest pediatric orthopedic 1-2 medical centers in the nation, the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for 1-3 Children provides therapy and treatment free of charge to children 1-4 challenged by cerebral palsy, spina bifida, scoliosis, arthritis, 1-5 learning disabilities, and accidental injuries; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Families come from every corner of the Lone Star 1-7 State to receive outstanding medical care from the professionals at 1-8 this exemplary institution, which currently treats more than 11,000 1-9 young Texans as active patients; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Originally founded by Scottish Rite Masons in 1921 1-11 to provide care for children with polio, the hospital now performs 1-12 pioneering research in spinal rehabilitation and, in addition to 1-13 its inpatient and outpatient services, is a preeminent educational 1-14 institution that provides training to America's leading medical 1-15 students and professionals; and 1-16 WHEREAS, The Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children is all 1-17 the more remarkable because it is funded entirely through private 1-18 donations and furnishes all medical treatment free of charge; the 1-19 doctors, nurses, staff, and volunteers at this hospital are true 1-20 Texas heroes who each day bring hope and comfort to families as 1-21 they treat our state's youngest citizens, and their many 1-22 extraordinary efforts are indeed worthy of special legislative 1-23 recognition; now, therefore, be it 1-24 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-1 Legislature hereby commend the doctors, nurses, staff, and 2-2 volunteers of the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children for 2-3 their many outstanding contributions toward making the Lone Star 2-4 State a better place for children and their families; and, be it 2-5 further 2-6 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-7 prepared for the Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children as an 2-8 expression of highest regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
