H.R. No. 1040 R E S O L U T I O N 1-1 WHEREAS, Councilman Robert Albert Davis has served the 1-2 citizens of Forest Hill with integrity and dedication throughout 1-3 the course of his remarkable tenure with the Forest Hill City 1-4 Council; and 1-5 WHEREAS, A native of Beaumont, this distinguished Texan was 1-6 educated at Lamar University, Texas A&M University, and East Texas 1-7 State University before embarking on a successful career as an 1-8 educator, civic leader, and public servant; a former member of the 1-9 Texas Academic Skills Program Committee, Mr. Davis has taught 1-10 English composition and literature at many of our state's finest 1-11 institutions of higher learning, including Jarvis Christian 1-12 College, Texas Christian University, and Tarrant County Junior 1-13 College; and 1-14 WHEREAS, This exemplary individual has played a leading role 1-15 in shaping his community's destiny since the early 1970s, when he 1-16 served on the Forest Hill Charter Board and participated in the 1-17 drafting of the city's defining document; Mr. Davis joined the 1-18 Forest Hill City Council in 1985, serving as mayor pro tempore for 1-19 a term of four years, and has represented his constituents with 1-20 great honor and distinction, helping to facilitate construction of 1-21 several major roads, upgrading water utility services, and 1-22 developing improved park, library, environmental, and recreational 1-23 services; and 1-24 WHEREAS, Councilman Davis is a devoted member of Fort Worth's 2-1 Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where he teaches Sunday school, 2-2 directs the multimedia ministry, coordinates and directs the drama 2-3 program, and serves as a deacon and trustee for the church; he also 2-4 is a dedicated family man who enjoys a rewarding marriage with his 2-5 wife of many years, Pamela Ann Washington, and is a doting father 2-6 to the couple's only child, Ryan Alexander; and 2-7 WHEREAS, This remarkable individual has, in every facet of 2-8 his life, displayed the highest level of concern for others in his 2-9 community, and his many notable achievements are indeed deserving 2-10 of special legislative recognition as he departs from a long and 2-11 productive career in public service; now, therefore, be it 2-12 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas 2-13 Legislature hereby congratulate Robert Albert Davis on the occasion 2-14 of his retirement from the Forest Hill City Council and extend to 2-15 him warmest best wishes for continued happiness and success in his 2-16 future endeavors; and, be it further 2-17 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be 2-18 prepared for Councilman Davis as an expression of high regard by 2-19 the Texas House of Representatives.
