                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The Texas House of Representatives is proud to honor
    1-2  the Midway Independent School District (ISD) math teams on placing
    1-3  first in math number sense and second in general math at the
    1-4  University Interscholastic League (UIL) state competition held May
    1-5  5-6, 1995; and
    1-6        WHEREAS, Members of the state champion math number sense team
    1-7  were Sam Keen, Mandy Brown, and Cheryl Boettcher, and the general
    1-8  math team was composed of Mandy Brown, Chrystal Miller, and Cheryl
    1-9  Boettcher; and
   1-10        WHEREAS, Performing at the highest level in academic
   1-11  competition requires not only keen intellect but also countless
   1-12  hours of study and preparation, and these dedicated students
   1-13  exemplify the pursuit of scholastic excellence; and
   1-14        WHEREAS, Coach James Pappas labored tirelessly to prepare his
   1-15  charges for this difficult and demanding event, encouraging team
   1-16  members in their studies and helping to fire their competitive
   1-17  spirit, and he played a vital role in ensuring the teams' success;
   1-18  and
   1-19        WHEREAS, The Midway ISD math team members have truly
   1-20  demonstrated an exemplary command of their challenging subject
   1-21  matter during the statewide competition, and it is indeed
   1-22  appropriate that these young scholars be given special legislative
   1-23  recognition for their impressive achievements; now, therefore, be
   1-24  it
    2-1        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-2  Legislature hereby congratulate the Midway ISD math teams on their
    2-3  superior performance at the 1995 UIL state competition and extend
    2-4  to each team member best wishes for continued success in all future
    2-5  endeavors; and, be it further
    2-6        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
    2-7  prepared for the team members and their coach as an expression of
    2-8  high regard by the Texas House of Representatives.
