                                  R E S O L U T I O N
    1-1        WHEREAS, The J. M. Hanks High School Knights varsity golf
    1-2  team has ascended to the pinnacle of success by winning the 1995
    1-3  University Interscholastic League (UIL) Class 5A state championship
    1-4  tournament; and
    1-5        WHEREAS, Boasting a tradition of excellence in high school
    1-6  golf that includes 14 consecutive District 2-5A titles and four
    1-7  appearances in the UIL state tournament before 1995, this
    1-8  exceptional group of student athletes entered this year's
    1-9  competition determined to take home the state title that had
   1-10  previously eluded them; and
   1-11        WHEREAS, Performing at a level far superior to other teams,
   1-12  the Knights claimed the coveted crown with a two-day total score of
   1-13  580, setting a new state tournament record and finishing 24 strokes
   1-14  in front of the second place team; and
   1-15        WHEREAS, The team's outstanding achievements were a result of
   1-16  superb play by members Ralph Gemoets, Drew Hawley, A. J. Keipp,
   1-17  Adrian Quintela, and Jesse Sosa; and
   1-18        WHEREAS, Although each team member made significant
   1-19  contributions to the squad's overall success, Jesse Sosa, a senior
   1-20  at J. M. Hanks High School, also earned distinction by winning the
   1-21  individual state championship, and teammate Ralph Gemoets placed
   1-22  second to claim the silver medal; and
   1-23        WHEREAS, Henry Felix, who has been head coach at J. M. Hanks
   1-24  High School for 11 years, schooled his talented charges in golfing
    2-1  fundamentals and instilled in them an unquenchable will to win; and
    2-2        WHEREAS, These exemplary young men are a source of great
    2-3  pride to the students and faculty of J. M. Hanks High School as
    2-4  well as their many supporters in the community, and their
    2-5  exceptional accomplishments indeed merit special legislative
    2-6  recognition; now, therefore, be it
    2-7        RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 74th Texas
    2-8  Legislature hereby congratulate the J. M. Hanks High School varsity
    2-9  golf team on winning the 1995 UIL Class 5A state championship and
   2-10  extend to the team members and Coach Henry Felix best wishes for
   2-11  continued success in the future; and, be it further
   2-12        RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
   2-13  prepared for the team members and their coach and for prominent
   2-14  display at J. M. Hanks High School as an expression of high regard
   2-15  by the Texas House of Representatives.
